The French Textile Institute reported on March 1st that the French fashion research institute analyzed the customs and trade according to the law, and the textile and garment import and export trade rose steadily in 2010 after experiencing a sharp decline from 2008 to 2009.


  

Its textile exports increased by 7% (-19% in 2009) to 4 billion 400 million euros.

Imported

The increase was 11%, reaching 5 billion 700 million euros.

Clothing export

The increase was 2% (-9% in 2009), reaching 6 billion 400 million euros, with an increase of 6% in imports, reaching 15 billion 300 million euros.

Analysis shows that in 2010, the consumption of French fashion apparel market was weak, and the household cloth market continued to decline.


According to the report, France's textile exports to Asia increased by 27%, amounting to 350 million euros, but it did not increase by 4% compared with the 27 countries, but the amount amounted to 2 billion 600 million euros.

The analysis stressed that the most robust growth of French textile exports to Asia was the Chinese market, with an increase of 39%, reaching 174 million euros.

China has jumped from France's tenth largest textile export in 2009 to eighth place.

This shows that China's purchasing power is developing rapidly and its demand for high-end products is booming. It also brings vitality to the development of French textile high-end products enterprises.


French clothing exports accounted for 40% of the industry's total turnover, but last year France's clothing exports dropped to 1% of its 27 largest European export market, and its main customers were weak in demand for French fashion clothes.

But it has recovered growth, +24% and +21% respectively.

In 2010, China continued to maintain the position of the largest country in the export of clothing, and the export of French clothing was strong, with an increase of 15% (+4% in 2009).

The third place in Bangladesh was 18% of the total number of garments shipped last year.
